"The challenge it helped us with was to allow me to have free time. I have never taken a vacation where I felt at ease leaving, before I installed NetCrunch."
Daniel Zobel manages IT infrastructure at Heyworth Community Unit School District. He shares his experience with us: “The main challenge that I have is that I am the sole IT person for the district and have to maintain, install, repair and understand how everything works in the school building.
Before we purchased NetCrunch I would have to remote in every night to verify if a server was on or if the wireless link between the buildings was functioning at that time. I would never know if I was to walk into one of the buildings if I would get flooded with people tell me somethings wasn't working. Once I put NetCrunch into the network it has made me able to go to bed much more soundly and wake up with the knowledge of what is up or down at any given moment or be able to see if there is a server that has been running at 100%.”
Mr Zobel explains, why he choose our software: “I tried out a couple of the open source products and was able to do somethings with them and it worked, but the part that I didn't have time for is the time factor. I would have to set up each device by hand and know how to manipulate the system to have it work. Whereas with NetCrunch it did all of the work for me. I could tell it to check out this ip range and it would find the devices and set them all up. I also did look at Solarwinds, which a lot of bigger schools around me use, but while I was testing NetCrunch out I found I could get exactly what I wanted from NetCrunch, but the cost was very reasonable. The other reason we went with NetCrunch is that we were first a Novell network and very few products interfaced with Netware. NetCrunch interfaced and could do exactly what was needed to be done with our Novell products.”
“The network challenges it takes care of is that we have had several power outages, but before NetCrunch I could never know if it was a power issue or a system issue. The software allows me to see where the bigger issue is compared to having to check everything out.”
The most important thing we have left at the end: ”The challenge it helped us with was to allow me to have free time. I have never taken a vacation where I felt at ease leaving, before I installed NetCrunch.“ - Daniel Zobel says
